While walking in a swampy area along Otter Creek in Sleeping Bear National Lakeshore I jumped an adult Wood Cock that pretended to be wounded in an attempt to lure me away. I knew from the way it flew off that there was either a nest or young. It took off right at my feet. I couldn't find a nest but did find two chicks. I quickly moved around them taking a few photographs. They never moved a muscle. This was the first time I had ever seen young Wood Cock this small. What a treat. I hope you enjoy the photograph of this rare sight.

I am a biologist by training that got into photography about 19 years ago. I have always loved being outdoors. Over many years I have developed an eye for dramatic lighting and wonderful scenes. My photography captures those beautiful vistas and wonders of nature. I use Nikon equipment and currently shoot with a Nikon 810 camera.
